Week 8 Reflection EDUC: 67151

I believe that the implementation of the Wii into my teaching go along perfectly with what I learned from this course. Technology is ever changing, and you will always have emerging and emerged technologies. As soon as one technology emerges, there will be another one that comes out and will make that earlier technology emerging. Wii is an activity that can always be done during P.E. classes and I believe that the Wii will be something that can be done for years. It may become emerged, but it can always be used and will be beneficial to students in P.E. programs, and students who may not otherwise be able to participate in physical activity.

As for immediate adjustments I will make into my teaching, I will try to incorporate more technology into my teaching. While researching and learning the materials from this course, I realize just how much technology plays a role in students’ lives and how much it will play a role in students’ lives, that it is important that I stay up to date and use technology whenever possible to better benefit my students’ success. It will take some effort for other teachers to be accepting and open to using new technology, but once a few teachers start to use it and other teachers see the benefits of technology they will be more accepting to using it in their daily teaching. As a teacher it is also important to try your best to stay ahead of the game when it comes to technology. Since technology changes so much and so quickly it is essential that we do not get used or comfortable with just using one type of technology tool but to use many and a variety of them in our teaching.

Week 8- EDUC 6714I-1

Week 8 Blog:

Through the differentiated station network, I had access to many sources that my classmates share with me. It is important that the search does not end here; however, we need to continue to grow in our understanding and implementation of the UDL and Differentiated Instruction. Teaching is a never ending learning process and every day I find more and more resources that help me grow as a teacher. The sources that my classmates provided helped me understand differentiation instruction and UDL better and helped me better understand how I can reach all my students and their learning styles.

As a P.E. teacher it is going to be difficult for me to make immediate adjustments in my instructional practice. I plan to do more research and search on ways to implement these and the use of technology into my teaching in my P.E. class. It is difficult for me to figure out ways to use the technology tools available because of my class size and that we are in the gym and do not have access to technology in the gym. This class was very interested and I was surprised to see how technology can really help students and all learning styles be successful in the classroom and understand the material you are trying to teach them. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in meeting standards and passing standardized tests, that we forget that not two students are like and that everyone needs something different in order to be successful. This class taught me how to teach to all students and to reach and engage all my students.
